Micromax Dual 5 |
Micromax is an Indian smartphones brand and known for its’ budget and mid-range phones. Now Micromax is putting its’ foot in the premium category with the Dual 5, the first phone of Dual series.
The previous year was a bit shaky for Micromax, it didn’t launch even a single phone and in the meanwhile, other China-based phone makers take benefit of this opportunity. The comeback for the Micromax will prove to be a bit tougher due to the presence of other brands like Xiomi, OPPO, Vivo, LeEco, and OnePlus.
Dual 5
Dual 5 has an all-metal unibody design and curved back which makes it comfortable to hold. The display is protected by the Gorilla Glass 3. The phone has an additional key on the left side of the phone called Smart key and you can configure the key according to your need.
It is named Dual 5 after its’ rear dual camera and has fingerprint scanner under it. The fingerprint scanner is quite impressing, it is fast and accurate.
This phone has a 5.5 inch full HD AMOLED what other big brands are using in their premium phones. Screen bezels are thin, the phone has an 86% screen-to-body ratio and below the screen is the hardware buttons but these are not backlit.
Under the back chassis, the phone has an Octa Core Snapdragon 652 processor, 4GB RAM, and 128 GB internal storage and expanded up to another 128 GB via microSD card. 128 GB internal storage is something you won’t find on any other device in this price range. It has quick charge 3.0.
Dual 5 has no lagging problem while playing high-end games like Need for Speed, Asphalt, Nova 3 etc as well as high-resolution video. The 3200mAh battery performs well and delivers juice for a whole day with heavy use and continuous 4G connectivity.
It has a dual 13MP camera- one is an RGB color sensor and the other is a monochrome sensor. The image quality is very impressing it is sharp and crisp in daylight as well as indoors but in low light, it isn’t that good, the images lack detail. The "Blurry" mode is a positive aspect of Dual 5 it captures images with blurred background while keeping the subject focused. The front camera is not that good but performs well in proper lighting front camera is incorporated with a soft selfie flash for use in low-light. The camera’s performance would have enhanced if Micromax had added optical image stabilization on the cameras.
The Micromax Dual 5 has Android 6 so you might get Android Nougat as an update but till now you have to compromise with Android 6. It has some handy built-in features like a Health guard, a Heat Source app to keep the phone cool and prevent it from overheating, freezer app and Secure Vault. Overall this phone is value for money.
