Samsung Galaxy S8 Versus Iphone 7/ Google Pixel/ LG G6/ OnePlus 3t

Samsung Vs Benchmark Phones
Samsung Galaxy S8 Vs The Rest  Phones

You will find thousands of articles about the hagiography of Samsung Galaxy S8 and I think it deserves the appreciation and applause.  After the doomed Samsung Galaxy Note 7 the Samsung’s reputation was at stake and it was a challenge to make a perfect phone to come over the previous failure. They take it as a challenge and come back really strong and made this awesome phone “The Samsung Galaxy S8”.

Samsung Galaxy S8 short reviews

samsung Galaxy S8
I won’t go deep so here is the shortest possible review of it. Premium and perfect design, the most noticing thing is its’ screen almost zero bezel around the screen, sharp and crisp display quality with an unusual 2960 x 1440 resolution with a pixel density of 571ppi and aspect ratio of 18.5:9.

The decision to keep almost negligible bezel on the front of screen forced the maker to place fingerprint scanner on the back beside the rear camera – a bad move as the scanner is right next to the camera (you may keep rubbing your finger on the camera lens ).

Gorilla Glass 5 on both front and back makes it extra strong and scratch resistance keeps your shiny for long. Samsung has put extra attention on the security system of the phone and takes the smartphone security to the next level with the iris scanner besides fingerprint, pattern, and password.

One thing that I think Samsung should have upgraded is the camera optics, the camera quality isn’t poor but other brands are using a dual camera and it sticks with the single rear camera and kept the one in S8 that they had used in the S7.

S8 is the Samsung’s first and the third in overall after iPhone and Google pixel to have personal voice assistant named Bixby, I don’t why they kept this peculiar tongue twister name?

The most promising thing about this phone is the Dex dock that converts your phone into a desktop. Maybe in future phones will take place of CPU. Dex dock new for Samsung but the Microsoft has already come up with the similar innovation but due to poor market of Lumia, Microsoft display dock didn't get much response from the users.

Samsung has played safe with the S8’s battery because they don’t want to do the previous mistake again and went with just 3000mAh battery, which has almost negligible chances of exploding but it will affect the battery backup of this phone.

I have written an article on Samsung Galaxy S8 about its’ features before its release so click on the highlighted name to know the features of it.

Samsung Galaxy S8 VS iPhone 7

Samsung Galaxy S8 Vs Iphone 7
Samsung Galaxy S8 Vs Iphone 7

S8 has superior design, better display, bezel-less screen and premium feel and clearly beats in these categories. The iPhone’s design and look seem obsolete in front of Samsung Galaxy S8.

The S8 has better IP rating compare to iPhone 7 means better water and dust resistance. iPhone has a dual rear camera and a step ahead of S8 but Samsung S8 has the better F stop aperture rating at 1.7 and front camera with autofocus. Iphone’s voice assistant Siri has definitely a better name than Samsung’s Bixby.

Dex dock is something which has no competitor and it is beyond any competition. We were expecting that Samsung too will ditch the 3.5mm headphone jack but it didn’t and it is a plus point for S8 now the S8 owner don’t  have to buy those expensive wireless headphone. All the Samsung lovers can take a breath of relief.

Samsung Galaxy S8 VS Google Pixel

Samsung Galaxy S8 Vs Google Pixel
Samsung Galaxy S8 VS Google Pixel

Google Pixel loses in design to the S8 with a big margin and come nowhere near in terms of display and screen but have a better camera quality, battery life and in terms of overall performance. Pixel doesn’t have a memory slot so you cannot expand the storage but S8 have and gives you the freedom to use a memory card.

Google Pixel wins the battle due to pure-play Android Nougat OS and will get updates much faster than the S8 and we know why. Pixel’s battery life is also way better than S8. The S8 has a 3000 mAh battery due to previous incidents of battery explosion so this can be a problem for those who hang out a lot with their phones.

Bixby and Bixby Vision seem ahead of Google Assistant in terms of features so there is probability because we haven’t tested those features and yet to see if they deliver or not. So, as of now, S8 beats Pixel.

Samsung Galaxy S8 VS LG G6

LG G6 is the only phone till now that can stand in terms of bezel-less screen, aspect ratio, pixel density and display quality.

G6 has a dual rear camera and expandable memory like S8 but performance and design wise G6 can’t compete with S8. G6 can prove to be a tough competitor for S8 if LG advertises it well.

Samsung Galaxy S8 VS OnePlus 3T

Samsung Galaxy S8 VS OnePlus 3T
Samsung Galaxy S8 VS OnePlus 3T

It’s an injustice to compare OnePlus 3T with S8 because 3T costs almost half of the price of S8, but 3T must take it as an honor because I have seen that 3T been constantly compared with big guys of phone industries and don’t disappoint you much.

In design, screen, IP ratings, and overall performance S8 is way ahead of 3T but pulls this battle back with a 6GB RAM, good camera optics, and better battery life. But OnePlus has to work hard on OnePlus 4 to take on S8.

Samsung Galaxy S8 VS iPhone 8/X/10/ Edition

Well, I wasn’t keen to compare S8 with an imaginary phone. We don’t know the specification and features of upcoming iPhone so it’s futile to compare S8 with a phone which is just in our mind. The real battle will be between the then released Samsung Note 8 and the new phone.

As per the rumors, the new iPhone won’t have a home button and nowhere on the screen. Thus the fingerprint scanner may shift the back of the phone.

Blackberry KeyOne

                              Blackberry KeyOne

Blackberry KeyOne

“Blackberry” we all know this company. Blackberry was once the No.1 smartphone selling company. There was a time when it could sell almost anything to everyone. Owning a BlackBerry phone was a sign of power, on which you could boast. BlackBerry was the first choice of corporate employees.

In offices or in meeting rooms you would find people busy on their BlackBerry phones, these things were common those days. Having black thumb (due excessive typing on BB’s classic keyboard) was something you could show off.

Then the iPhone was born and created a new segment of smartphones “the touchscreen smartphone”. It shook the whole mobile market and on other hand, Android phones started their own era. A powerful camera on phones, mp3 player, video games, new hardware and amazing features made the phone turn into a God of personal devices.

The BlackBerry couldn’t sense the danger and threat from the iPhone and Android phones and continued to make those non-innovative phones. Its executives never came out of the shell and failed to adapt. At last, they understand the urge for the changes and did some changes and made some good phones but it became too late. Even when they did get the phone right, they priced them wrong. They ultimately became a master of screwing things and did some bizarre changes in the phone’s ergonomics. In this way, the legacy continued to fade away.

The death of BlackBerry was certain but they did not die really! They kept making some sort of comeback every time. This time with BB KeyOne they really want to leave some footprint in the smartphones world.

Rebirth of Blackberry

The failure of the most of the blackberry handsets leads to bankruptcy of the company and people started thinking that “Will BlackBerry continue to make phones”?

Licensing gives the second life to Blackberry. Nokia also resurfaced through licensing. Nokia made a great start and Blackberry is trying the same. Thanks to licensing agreement with TCL, the new BlackBerry phones are coming out.

Licensing has some advantages, it gives freedom to think new and different and to start from the scratch thus a new hardware and new pricing. TCL don’t have to carry the legacy baggage and have a chance to rectify the earlier mistakes.

Advantages of BlackBerry

The first question that comes to our mind is, “Why will we buy a BB android phone”? There is already so many android phone brands which are making great phones.

There are two things that make BlackBerry special, one is Keyboard and the other is security. Typing on the real physical keyboard is a fun and joyful, if you haven’t typed on the real physical keyboard, you may not understand the feelings.

BlackBerry brings unparalleled world-class security to your phone this is something you don’t want to compromise with. Some recent revelations show that the CIA and many other government bodies spying on citizen phones. iPhone and Android phones cannot provide as strong security as BlackBerry. We all know the hacking story of Apple’s cloud storage which leads to the exposure of private pictures and videos of many celebrities. We are not the exception we all are vulnerable to hacking and BlackBerry level encrypted phones could be the only solution against this.

If BlackBerry has to compete with other brands it has to price their phones better, and have to provide good features, look, hardware like other Android phone and guarantees security. If it does all the things right I am sure it brings back the era of keyboard phones and the return of BB can be guaranteed.

It was absolutely gorgeous phone with some great new features and strong hardware that can compete with any other android phones and beat it. Why Nokia 3310?

Nokia 3310

As soon HMD officially announced that it is going to relaunch the legendary model 3310, this news spread like fire, this news becomes the headlines of almost every newspaper, every technology related blog was filled with this article and created lot of buzz. Many rumours were going all around.  Some techie said that Nokia 3310 was the point of attraction at the MWC 2017.

Why Nokia 3310? why we will purchase this phone? In the era of smartphones and touchscreen phones, can Nokia 3310 even survive, I don’t think so? Today even the lower class families wanted to buy high-end smartphones.

Nokia 3310 seems like a mediocre phone. It can’t take your smart phone’s place and not even your secondary phone’s place. It has nothing to be compared with smartphones and bit costlier as compared to secondary phones of other brands.

The old one was simple, sophisticated and extra strong and that was the highlighted feature of the legendary Nokia 3310 but the new one is not near to the strongness of the old one.

The kind of hype created and rumours spread was a well-planned strategy. The company is trying to utilise the name and nostalgia of this phone to make some money and gain some foothold in the market as Nokia is also on the comeback.

Here are few setback features of Nokia 3310

  •    It uses 900MHz and 1800MHz band and these frequencies are only compatible with 2G networks only. 2G networks are almost on the verge of extinction in developed countries and also in developing countries like India. A handset must support at least four frequencies to operate around the globe.
  •     This phone is coming with just 16MB internal memory even in this century, Nokia could have included extra 500MB so a memory card is a must.
  •        Earlier snake game was much better than the new version. The new one is tough and difficult to play.
  •         The camera quality is below the average and it cannot even focus.

Highlighted Features

Nokia 3310

  •      Nokia 3310 has a 2.40- inch screen, bigger than its predecessor.
  •       It has 16MB internal storage and expandable up to 32G.
  •     Nokia 3310 comes with a 2MP camera. There is no flash, HDR, Panorama mode or anything fancy.
  •     It has a 1200mAh battery and lasts for 31 days on standby mode and power 22 hours talk time.
  •   It is available in four colours i.e traditional dark blue, grey, psychedelic yellow and warm red as you can see in the above image.
  •    It is available at around 49 euro.
  •   This phone is not indestructible as the earlier on but it is really very strong.

OnePlus 3T: The China-based 'Flagship Killer' phone.

OnePlus phones

OnePlus is a China-based company. It was founded on 16 December 2013 by the former vice president of Oppo named Pete Lau. One plus’s main motto is to build high-end devices with a lower price than other phones in its class. One plus One was the first device launched by the company and touted as “2014 flagship killer”.

One plus One had great features and in some cases even better than other flagship phones of that year, the main plus point was the lower price. Delivering devices packed with great features at such nominal price is indeed appreciable!

One plus follows the path of Apple and works on a single device at a time. They put their all effort and attention to single device and that’s their success mantra.

One plus is coming again this year with power packed device named One Plus5.

OnePlus 5

OnePlus 5

OnePlus 5 is the successor of OnePlus 3T and will launch this calendar year. It was earlier named as One Plus 4 but according to Chinese myths number four is considered unlucky and company decided to ditch this name.

According to some reports, One plus 5 will sport dual-edge curved display, taking hints from Samsung’s Galaxy S7 Edge. Dual-edge curved display will be the highlight of this phone along with 16-megapixel front camera or selfie shooter. Other rumoured details for One Plus 5 include a 23-megapixel rear camera and come in two variants of 6 and 8 GB RAM powered by 821 snapdragon processor or may wait for the snapdragon 835 processor to become available.

The device will have a storage capacity of 256 GB and come with a ceramic body like Xiaomi Mi Mix. We are expecting that One Plus 5 may launch with the latest android version Nougat.

Above data are not actual as company has not announced anything about this device, these are the rumoured details of the One plus 5.

One Plus 3T

One plus 3T stands on the motto of the company. It is a power packed device available at around $400.

What I like the most in this device is the Dash Charging feature which is one of the most advanced charging technology available in the market. It is faster safer and cooler than most of the other charging technology. Charging speed remains consistent even while gaming. The company claims that this technology can give enough power for day long use in just half an hour charging.

One plus 3T has the most refined version of OxygenOS yet. This OS gives you some customizable options and it is lighter and faster compare to its predecessor.

One Plus 3T’s camera is quite promising and gives you a sharp and crisp picture. It has a 16-megapixel rear camera with noise reduction and stabilisation technologies.

It is sleek and stylish and has an all-metal body with gun metal colour which enhanced its look further.

One Plus 3T is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon processor 821 which clocks up to the speed of 2.35 GHz with 6GB of RAM which makes multitasking smoother. It has the internal storage of 128GB, which enables you to store huge amount of data.

One plus 3T has a 5.5 inches Optic AMOLED capacitive touch screen with the pixel density of 401ppi. It gets the power from 3400mAh battery with fast charging technology, which can charge your device up to 60% in just 30minutes.

Positives and Negatives of One Plus 3T

Well! I would love to start with positive points of 3T. What so good about this device, the first thing that comes to my mind is its battery performance and fast charging technology. When I first get this phone I charged it for approx 40mins and the battery stayed for all day long. My both SIMs were on, one of them was a 4G SIM and my data was on all day, I watched YouTube videos, played games, clicked few photos and at the end of the day my had still some juice left, isn’t it amazing?

The new gun metal colour gives this device a premium look, this phone has the best camera at this price offering, it is quick, gives accurate colour and quick to focus. I am very impressed with the low light performance as well.

Multi-tasking is very smooth on this device, apps and games open fast. If you have opened 15 or 16 apps at a time but it didn’t lag a bit switching between the apps are really smooth.

Negative aspects of One Plus 3T

The first problem that I faced was a heating problem. The device gets a bit warm near the camera when you play games. The display quality of this phone is not up to the mark despite having 5.5 inch AMOLED display. If you look at Samsung’s phones with this same display quality they are better than 3T.

You can’t upgrade the storage as the device has no memory slot.
The One Plus 3T also have some software problems, sometimes it may call someone from your contact automatically when the phone is in the pocket in spite of having the pocket mode on.

Some 3T users have complained about the automatic rebooting which end after the factory reset of the device in result you lose all you data. One Plus 3T is the upgrade version of One Plus 3 but nothing much has changed and also bit costlier than the older one. OnePlus 3T price in India is around 30k for 64GB variant and OnePlus 3T price for 128GB variant is around 35k in rupees.
